FIT pre-college programs :)

I really loved my screen-printing class. I learned so much, and I got to make some really interesting shirts for myself and others! I am definitely going to take this class again next summer. I love being able to customize my own clothes. My professor was so nice. She is possibly the coolest old lady I have ever met. She is shorter me, which was really cool since I'm the shortest person I know. She has worked in the fashion industry since she was young, she was the head screen-printer for Bloomingdales, and she really knows what she is doing. She is so talented, and she is such a good teacher! Here are pictures of all the things I made in screen-printing:

My Little Pony shirt in rainbow :3

I made this shirt for my friend who is in love with My Little Pony. I really wanted it to come out amazing, but I forgot to tape the side of my screen, and so there's a random black line on the shirt. My professor said it looked cool, but it's not the best it can be...

Another My Little Pony shirt for myself.

I really enjoyed printing on dark colored fabrics.

Everyone in my class loved this shirt, it was the second thing I printed and I am surprised at how well it came out.

This is the first thing I have ever printed. For our first shirt, we had to print our name so that the professor could learn all of our names.

I really wanted to print something on my jacket, since I wear this jacket so much. I decided to print the number 42, because in the movie/book Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, 42 is the answer to life.

So many eyes!

My second class was Sneakerology. It was really different from what I thought it would be, but it turned out to be really fun! I made some good friends in that class and I had a lot of fun! My professor was really funny, and he was an amazing teacher. He taught us how to sketch shoes, how to color shoes so that they seem realistic when you present your ideas to companies, and one of the things I liked best about this class was that we didn't just learn how to draw, he taught us how to speak in front of an audience and how to present our creations in a professional way. He himself has designed numerous shoes for big companies such as Adidas and Nike. He really taught us about the sneaker industry and what is involved in the process of making the sneakers. Here is a few pictures of my final project. We had to pick a band or musician, and design 3 shoes for them. I chose Blink-182.

There are 3 people in Blink-182; Tom, Mark, and Travis. This is Tom's shoe. He is obsessed with aliens, so I drew an alien on his shoe. All the green would glow in the dark if they were real, and the stars actually do glow in the dark :D

Mark's hero is Homer Simpson, and I cut out real denim from an old pair of jeans.

Travis has this bird tattooed on his arm, so I decided to incorporate it on his shoe.

My teacher actually chose my project to be displayed in the FIT museum, and words cannot describe how happy and grateful that makes me feel. I feel so honored that he chose mine out of the twenty something people's in the class.

FIT was one of the best experiences of my life. It really opened my eyes to the art world and industry. Now whenever I go out, I pay attention to little details on shoes, such as the stitching and fabrics. I also pay close attention to people's shirts so I can get ideas for my own. I met so many amazing people who all are interested in the same things as me, and it makes me feel like I am not so alone in wanted a career in the art world. Going to FIT has made me believe in a future for myself, and this is the motivation I needed to be able to get through shitty high school, because I know that if I try my best, than I can get into FIT and start doing things for myself and my future. In high school, I feel lost in a sea of people. Everyone judges each other based on their grades, and people are upset because their GPA isn't high enough, even though they have a 4.6 GPA.... But being able to attend FIT classes for 3 weeks has really made me realize that all those people DO NOT matter, and my dream is my dream and they can't take that away from me, no matter how stupid they think I am because I am not in all honors. It really doesn't matter to me anymore.
Another thing I really enjoyed was being able to commute to New York by myself. I felt so much freedom walking through Penn Station on my own, walking through Manhattan on my own, and riding the train on my own. It made me feel really mature and grown up, and that is exactly what I needed to feel this summer, because up until now, I have felt really dependent upon my parents and other people, and I really wanted to break away from that. Knowing that I am capable of getting to New York, and walking through New York, on my own has really made me have more faith in myself.
I can honestly say that after these 3 weeks, I am proud of myself. It is an amazing feeling to be proud of myself for once, because during school I wanted to crawl in a whole and disappear. Now I know what I am capable of, and I am going to keep working towards my goal to become a photographer and live in New York. Before FIT started, I really didn't know how much two simple classes could effect me, but FIT has literally changed my life.

I'm workin' towards ya.....

Can you imagine a world where there is no depth?

I got these shoes from my mom's closet. They are at least 20 years old, but I love them! They needed some fixing (the entire upper needed to be glued to the sole.) But now they are ready to be worn! :D

P.s. - I'll post all of my FIT artwork by the end of next week, since the classes end Thursday [ SO SAD ].

WOOOHOOOOOOOO FIT YEAH BRO

I forgot to take a picture of this until after I cut it off my arm....

Anywhoz, this post is gonna be really long and probably boring so feel free to not read it.

Today was the third day of FIT pre-college classes, and I am literally in love. I LOVE IT SO MUCH. I feel so inspired by everyone around me, there are so many talented people. I love (I'm probably going to be using the word "love" a lot in this post.... Sorry :P) my classes. I feel like I am really learning new things. Screen printing is just freakin' amazing, because I love designing my own clothes but I can never actually transfer my drawings onto actual fabric, and now I'm learning how to do that. I think I am going to screen print on leggings, or the back of my jacket. So many options D: Anyways, I also really like my sneakerology class, we are learning how to sketch shoes which is a really interesting technique to learn. We're also learning how to design them. I designed my own Vans :D I feel so grateful that I am able to do this. I love FIT. my dream is to attend FIT for college and live in New York. That is seriously all I want.

Even though I haven't been talking much, because I'm super shy when meeting new people.... I feel like I really fit in. Everyone is so interested in art and fashion, and I love the environment. It such a refreshing change from attending an extremely competitive high school where everyone one wants to go to Harvard and become a doctor or scientist, and there's nothing wrong with that, but the people at my school judge everyone else based on what classes they're in. Someone legitemitly laughed at me when I told them I wanted to be a graphic designer or photographer. A lot of people think I'm really stupid because I like art, I'm bad at math and I'm not in all honors. And that just makes me want to prove everyone wrong and become the best artist I can be.

    On a side note......
It is so amazing taking the train by myself, I feel like I have so much freedom. At first I thought I would get hopelessly lost in Penn Station, because every time I visit New York I either drive there or I'm with someone else,  and end up in who-knows-where, but it turned out to be extremely easy :D

This picture is actually from a few months ago but I felt like I had to upload something...
My friend and I. The name of this post is pretty random.
Posts about FIT are coming soon :D

All the stars in the sky couldn't replace you

My mom let me go through her closet and take the clothes she doesn't wear anymore, and I found this sweater she wore when she went skiing many years ago, and I am in love. I cannot wait for the weather to get chillier so I can wear this and not die of a heat stroke. I also brought back to my closet: a grey winter sweater/cardigan type thing, and a black Chinese style shirt, which I will post soon :)

stuff bought in New York

H&M ~ This is my new favorite shirt. I love the little flecks of color.

I bought this at a thrift store :D

I found these leggings at H&M, and since I have been looking for leggings like these for a while, I had to buy them.

Vintage key, I wonder what it opens?

I love this dress from H&M.

The cardigan is also from H&M.

As ya'll can tell, I wear these boots with everything <3

I'm running out of creative titles to name my posts about New York.... :D

Today I went into New York (again) with my mom. Next Monday I am going to be attending pre-college art classes at FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology), and today was the orientation. I was really nervous at first, because I am going to be taking the train by myself and I'll have to learn how to get to FIT, but it turned out to be really simple and I am confident I will not get lost :D I am so excited for Monday. I feel so privileged to be able to go into Manhattan BY MYSELF when most other people my age aren't even allowed, and secondly I GET TO ATTEND CLASSES AT FIT, my dream college. It is seriously my dream to attend FIT and live in New York and become some form of artist (preferably a photographer or graphic designer.) After FIT orientation, I spent the day with my mom and went to this snazzy thrift shop in Chelsea. I bought a belt, which I will post about later :D As we were walking down the street, we found a vintage jewelry store, and I got this really cool, super old key. I need to buy a chain for it so I can wear it as a necklace. Then I went to H&M and got some awesome clothes (I'll post those later too, as well as the key.) I had so much fun with my mom, today was one of the best New York trips I have ever had.

A truck with my last name on it!
