Ever since I was 5, I have loved anything to do with space and the universe. I love the colors of stars and planets, I love reading about things outside of Earth. I just find it all so fascinating.

everyone starts somewhere

This is one of the first pictures I took on my Nikon camera. I have always enjoyed photography, but I didn't really think about the pictures I was just taking. I would just take random pictures and not really think about the contrast, colors, composition, or message. That all changed this year when I became friends with a few people who are really into photography. They inspired me to become better and work harder at it. It took a while, but I was finally getting the hang of it. And then I got this camera, which is one of my most favorite possessions. Looking back to the first day I got it, I really knew nothing about photography  or how to use the tools and settings on my camera. I remember feeling so scared I would never learn how to use it, but I have improved so much since then. I am so grateful I met my friends and started to get more interested in photography because it really allows me to look at life so much more positively then I have in the past. Every day I improve, and I love learning new tricks that will improve my pictures.

(the 2nd) First Post

Hi, I'm Sophie. I decided to start over. 

I have a liking for abandoned barns that I stumble upon with friends while running.

New York will forever be my most favorite place in the universe. I hope I can attend art college there and live there. I just love how busy it is, all of the culture, the art, and the people. I think I love the variety most of all. New York is never dull,  anywhere you go the streets are full of life and color. Whenever  I am there, I feel as though I'm at home, which I guess I am because I was born there.

I really like sitting in this one spot in my neighborhood.

I LOVE music. When I listen to music, it transports me from Earth and brings me to a place in space (not outer space, but blank nothingness) where nothing can harm or touch me. I feel as though I'm in my own little world when I listen to music. Music inspires me to be all that I can be. Music inspires me to truely live and experience life's great adventures, not just to float along like so many people do. 

I like bridges and weird shadows.

I like when you look at a picture, and it could have been taken anywhere in the whole wide world that we all call home.

When I look at the sea, I realize how BIG the Earth is.

I went to New York last Saturday, and I wanted to try and capture the people on the streets. At first I felt really awkward photographing people without their consent, and I felt like any minute someone would start screaming at me for violating their privacy. But as the day progressed I learned to just go with it and take the chance.
